For many of us, we have found that CBD and cannabis has been the path that we use to do such things. CBD and cannabis give us the powers we need to make it through hard days. Especially the ones that have caused physical and mental pain.  We are going to dive deeper into what CBD exactly is, what you can do to help you in ways that may benefit you on this new journey of self-discovery. Maybe one day us Hippies will be able to talk about cannabis so freely but it is still a work in progress.

Disclaimer: We are not here to tell you to consume CBD. We are only here to tell the helpful benefits that have helped the Hippies we know and love. We do not promise any guarantee that this product will work for you.

You should always talk to your doctor to make sure that CBD is right for you.

What is CBD?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant. There are two types of Cannabis Sativa plant. Those with the active ingredient THC (Marijuanna) and those without the active ingredient THC (Hemp).

What Does CBD Do?

CBD works with your endocannabinoid system. This system is where your cells send signals throughout your body. With all the healing benefits that come from CBD the most common is helping those who suffer from seizures. Especially in cases with those who suffer from Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. In these cases, medication can’t help, but CBD can. CBD is also great for those who suffer from mental disorders such as anxiety and depression.

CBD has helped many of us Hippies. From chronic pain, restless nights, to major anxiety attacks, to helping with nausea and migraines. To those who even suffer from ADHD, it is an immense help to guide you on focusing and constructing forward.

History of CBD

The first recorded date of CBD was in 2732 BC. A Chinese emperor by the name of Emperor Sheng Neng used it for its healing properties. Some being to help with malaria, gout, and rheumatism.

In the 1800’s an Irish medical researcher by the name William B. O’Shaughnessy did a study for the plant’s therapeutic effects. It was a positive investigation which made him believe it was a potential medical application. Because of this study other medical researchers began to study the plant.

In fact during that same century Queen Victoria used CBD to alleviate menstrual cramps.

In the early 1900’s during the Mexican Revolution many Native Mexicans had to flee their homeland to find refuge in America. This led many Mexicans bringing their culture with them. Their music, clothing, language and use “marihuana” for medicine. Due to the fact there were so many immigrants coming to the country, the government wanted to take control and keep tabs on the people entering. El Paso, TX ended up borrowing a play from San Francisco’s playbook, which had outlawed opium decades earlier in an effort to control Chinese immigrants.  The idea was to have an excuse to search, detain and deport Mexican immigrants. The excuse was “Marijuana”

In the 1930’s there were claims saying that marijuana affects men of color in a negative way. Making them abusive and involved in prostitution. This is how the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 came to be. In the 1970 it officially became part of the Controlled Substances Act.

During Reagon’s presidency the government wanted to classify the drug as a Schedule I drug. The Shafer Commision claimed that it should not be a schedule I drug, or if it even should even be classified as a drug. However Nixon dismissed all evidence they had and classified Marijuana as Schedule I. He was able to convince many other countries to do the same.

What Are The Side Effects of CBD?

The most common side effects of CBD are: headaches, reduced appetite, drowsiness, dry mouth, irritation, diarrhea, and fatigue.

While CBD is wonderful and has so many benefits, it is not for everyone. Some may not experience any side effects while others can be very much affected by them. Most of us Hippies usually experience fatigue and occasional irritation if the proper dose is not taken.

Can I Overdose on CBD Oil?

I am not a doctor nor a scientist and can not give you the exact amount of how much is too much. What I can do is give you explicit details on what researchers, doctors, and scientists have said is safe.

One of the amazing qualities of CBD is that it is improbable to overdose on. In fact research says you can safely take up to 1,500mg of CBD every day. However if you take too much you can still end up with side effects such as nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, and disorientation.

Is CBD Right For Me?

What do you think? Are you a person who suffers from chronic pain, a mental disorder, or insomnia? In honesty, if you are a person who suffers from one of these, then us Hippies truly believe CBD is right for you. Everyone is different, so it’s okay to start with super low doses and work your way up to find the amount for you. If you don’t feel comfortable ingesting it, we really recommend the oils and creams. However, at the end of the day, it is up to you.
